| I am a member of three Civil War Round Tables. I have been an avid reader of the Civil War since about 1990, pursuant to the PBS Civil War presentation. Being a Paralegal, in reading about the War, I understood the legal issues presented by the case of Maj. General Gouverneur Kemble Warren in his removal from command of the Union Fifth Corps in 1865. As a result, I began a biography in 1992, and have traveled to work with various manuscript collections at the New York State Library and the Library of Congress. Expected publication is in 2007. |

| Book: Both prayed to the same God Religion and Faith in the American Civil War Both Prayed to the Same God is the first book-length, comprehensive study of religion in the Civil War. While much research has focused on religion in more specific contexts of the Civil War, this book provides a much-needed overview of this vital yet largely forgotten subject of American history. Writing passionately about this subject, Robert Miller presents this history in a very accessible but scholarly fashion. Beginning with the religious overtones in the lead up to the war, and concluding with consequences on religion in the aftermath, Miller shows us not only a forgotten aspect of history, but also how our current historical situation is not unprecedented.
